One of the first discoveries of the ruin, was a treasure within. In place, in its original chassis/wood block frame was the Millstone that we dismantled and stored for installation on the original floor of the Mill where it was found. The design of the pedestal uses the same wood beams that are installed for the floor supports with the addition of the pull out large drawers with the cabinetry that is found in the installed kitchen. This beautiful relic from the past will serve, not only as a signature of the historical heritage of the building but as a divider between the dining area and the downward stairs... as a glorified railing. Seeing the interior design process come together for a renovation the 400 to 500 year old swiss mill is not always straight forward, but building the actual pieces installed (or to be installed) for the 3d model of the mill can sure help in clarifying the vision.
